Description
Pseudopanax arboreus is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree with a bushy, multi-branched habit.
The distinctive leaves are palmate with five leaflets, giving it the common name “Five-Finger.” The glossy, dark green leaves create an attractive canopy. Inconspicuous flowers are produced in spring, followed by small, dark berries.
In New Zealand, Pseudopanax arboreus is found in various habitats, including coastal areas and lowland forests.
Well-suited to New Zealand’s temperate climate, P. arboreus thrives in areas with mild temperatures and moderate rainfall.
Thrives in partial shade with a canopy of taller trees above it.
Pseudopanax arboreus is prized for its attractive foliage and distinctive growth habit, making it an excellent ornamental tree in gardens and landscapes.
Plants supplied are in 5cm pots and average 1-2 years in age.
