*Lophomyrtus obcordata*, commonly known as Rōhutui * typically grows as a dense, compact shrub with a rounded or spreading habit.  The glossy, elliptical leaves are strikingly unique, featuring a rich green color and an obcordate shape (inverted heart shape).  Inconspicuous small white flowers may appear in late spring or early summer, followed by small purple berries, adding seasonal interest.

Lophomyrtus obcordata, commonly known as Rōhutui  typically grows as a dense, compact shrub with a rounded or spreading habit.  The glossy, elliptical leaves are strikingly unique, featuring a rich green color and an obcordate shape (inverted heart shape).  Inconspicuous small white flowers may appear in late spring or early summer, followed by small purple berries, adding seasonal interest.

Rōhutu thrives in a range of environments, from full sun to partial shade. However, it tends to exhibit its best foliage color in a sunny location.  Well-drained soil is essential for optimal growth, and the plant is generally adaptable to various soil types.

Will grow 3 to 5m in height.

Useful  for creating formal or informal hedges due to its dense growth habit and attractive foliage. Regular pruning helps maintain a neat and compact shape so a light trim after flowering to encourage bushy growth and promote the plant’s natural form.

Plants supplied are in 5cm pots and average one year in age.
