Description
20 x Eryngium planum ‘Blue Hobbit’
Eryngium planum ‘Blue Hobbit’ is a Sea Holly selection which forms open flowers (umbels) which are steel-blue in colour that remain attractive for weeks. It flowers for much of summer.
This unique dwarf strain has smooth-textured leaves and grows to 30-40cm tall and wide. It’s one of the hardiest sea hollies, making it a reliable, long-lived perennial.
Thrives in full sun, especially in dry, sandy, well-drained soils. The sunnier the site, the better the blue colour It tolerates poor soils and generally does not do so well in fertile ones.
Ideal for the front of sunny borders and coastal gardens.
Deadhead to maintain a neat appearance, and cut back after flowering.
