Pingao is a hardy, tuft-forming grass that thrives in coastal environments, particularly active sand dunes.
Its distinctive spiral-shaped orange/copper seed heads and tough, wiry leaves make it an attractive addition to coastal gardens.
Pingao is often used to stabilise sand dunes and so reducing erosion. It has a spreading growth habit with widely spreading rhizomatous shoots.
