Phormium tenax commonly known as New Zealand Flax or Harakeke, is a striking and versatile evergreen perennial that is widely used in gardens throughout New Zealand. This plant belongs to the Phormium genus and is prized for its attractive foliage, vibrant colors, and adaptability to various garden settings.

A strong growing native flax  which can withstand a variety of conditions, hardy. Best in full sun.

Great revegetation flax, tolerant of wet and dry conditions.

Phormium tenax typically reaches a height and spread of 2m x 2m, forming an upright, fountain-like clump.  Has tall flower spikes in summer.

Provides food for native birds  especially Tuis.

When planted en masse, these flax plants create a stunning visual impact, particularly in coastal gardens where they can withstand wind and salt spray.

Supplied plants are in 5cm pots and average one to two years in age.
