Description
Hebe salicifolia is a small to medium-sized evergreen shrub with a bushy habit. Narrow, lance-shaped, and willow-like, typically 3-8 cm long. The leaves are dark green and may have a silvery sheen.
Showy spikes of small, tubular, white to pale lavender flowers, borne in late spring to early summer. Can reach a height and spread of 2-3 meters.
Well-suited to New Zealand’s temperate climate, but can adapt to a range of conditions. It is often used in revegtation projects due to its quick robust growth. Prefers well-draining soils. It can tolerate a variety of soil types but thrives in moderately fertile, humus-rich soil. Grows well in full sun to partial shade.
Regular pruning helps maintain a compact shape and encourages more prolific flowering. Prune lightly after flowering to shape the plant.
Supplied plants are in 5cm pots and average one year in age.
